The meaning of Hoosier hospitality

Since joining Indiana University this summer, I've been introduced to the spirit of Hoosier hospitality. 
 
It's expressed in the volunteerism of our students across the state who make time to support one another and strengthen their communities. It's demonstrated in the extra care taken by our staff members who keep our university running. It is in the passion of our teaching faculty who inspire our students. It is in the commitment of our researchers who work daily to address so many issues to enhance lives everywhere. It is in our effort to partner with regional institutions and organizations to find the best solutions to the problems that impact us all. 
 
During this season of gratitude, I am thankful for each of you on our campuses for the Hoosier hospitality you’ve expressed this year. I wish you all the happiest of Thanksgiving holidays.
