Welcoming Dr. Latha Ramchand as the inaugural chancellor of IU Indianapolis

February 11, 2024

Tomorrow marks another bold step forward in Indianapolis as Dr. Latha Ramchand officially joins our campus community and begins her role as executive vice president and the inaugural chancellor of IU Indianapolis.

Dr. Ramchand will assume the inaugural chancellor role during a transformational time for the university as we officially launch IU Indianapolis in July 2024, introduce innovative academic programs, expand our research portfolio, and establish new and robust relationships with some of the region’s most prominent employers. Additionally, her track record of success in driving enrollment growth, emphasizing student success, and shaping strategic planning efforts will bolster our progress in advancing the critical goals of our IU 2030 strategic plan.

I am confident that Latha’s visionary and entrepreneurial leadership will continue to strengthen our momentum, impact, and legacy of excellence as we transform IU Indianapolis into one of the nation’s foremost urban research universities.

In addition to her executive leadership role, Latha will serve on the Indianapolis faculty of the Kelley School of Business as a professor of finance.

You can learn more about Latha on the IU Indianapolis chancellor website, and look to IUPUI Today for details on upcoming events and opportunities to personally welcome our new chancellor.

And, as we celebrate Latha’s arrival, I want to thank Carol Anne Murdoch-Kinch, who now returns to her role as dean of the IU School of Dentistry, for her dedicated service as interim chancellor.

Please join me in making Latha feel at home as she assumes her role in leading our reimagined campus into a new era as the nation’s preeminent urban public research university.
