The Indiana University Undergraduate Research Conference (IUURC) is an annual meeting for undergraduate college students. In 2023, the IUURC will be held on the Indiana University Southeast campus in New Albany on Friday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration and refreshments will be provided from 9:30-10 a.m. You should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled presentation to find your room and set up your presentation.

Undergraduate students present their scholarly work either in an oral presentation or a poster presentation. Faculty mentors and research team members are invited and encouraged to attend. When students are not presenting, they are encouraged to engage with other students presenting their work. Lunch will be provided.

No, any undergraduate student from any IU campus may submit an abstract for presentation.

In an oral presentation, presenters are in a meeting room. Presenters take turns explaining their projects to an audience. Oral presenters prepare visual aids, such as a Powerpoint presentation.

In a poster presentation, many presenters are in a large meeting space. Presenters stand in front of their visual aid, which is generally a poster printed in large format and mounted on an easel or bulletin board. Posters may also take the form of a tabletop display or floor display. Attendees walk from poster to poster, and presenters explain their project to everyone who comes by their poster.

No, you must choose one. Both presentation formats involve explaining your project verbally and preparing a visual aid.

Oral presentations are limited to 12 minutes followed by 3 minutes for questions, which is a total of 15 minutes. You should practice your oral presentation to make sure you can explain your project thoroughly within the time frame. Laptops and projectors are provided in every presentation room. Presenters should be able to access their slides online and should also bring their presentation on a USB drive as a backup.

Visit Registration for Guests to register if you are not presenting.

The presenter who submits an abstract is already registered for the conference. But if a presentation has more than one author/presenter, each co-presenter will need to register individually to attend the conference.
