Master of Arts for Teachers

This 100 percent online program is taught by IU Bloomington, IUPUI, IU South Bend, IUPUI, and IU Southeast. Please note that, although the program is delivered 100 percent online, some classes require your attendance on specific days and times.

Program focus

The IU Online German Master of Arts for Teachers combines coursework in education and German to prepare you to be a dual-credit instructor at the high school and community college levels. The program provides an expanded awareness of current methods in German language instruction, increased cultural expertise, and enhanced German proficiency.

Dual-credit/Community college instruction requirements

IU Southeast's 100% online German MAT in satisfies the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) requirement that dual-credit high school educators must meet to teach dual-credit courses and at the community college level.

Degree requirements

To earn the MAT in German, you must complete 30 credit hours, broken down into the following areas:

  • Core German courses (18 credit hours)
  • Graduate School of Education courses (12 credit hours)
