Jinqing Liu earned her master degree in higher education in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. She has tutored K-12 students mathematics for more than one thousand hours before attending Indiana University. The students she tutored have gained a significant mathematical improvement. Now she is a doctoral student in mathematics education at IU Bloomington with a minor in Psychology Counseling, who is working on her dissertation proposal. Her research interests include students' mathematics mistakes handling; assessment of mathematics knowledge for teaching; comparative studies of the teaching and learning in U.S. and East Asian Countries; international large-scale assessment; and evidence-based practice. Her goal is to contribute the cross-cultural understanding of mathematics education practice and theory between western and eastern countries and to devote in narrowing down the gap between educational research and practice in mathematics education field.
