Elective Title: 53MP701 — PULMONARY MEDICINE


Private practice of pulmonary medicine with hospital responsibilities. Goals are to become accomplished in the care of acute and chronic respiratory failure, interpretation of pulmonary function tests and blood gases and evaluation of chest x-rays. A fair amount of general internal medicine will be included. Students will actively participate in the work-up, laboratory evaluation, formulation of plans and management of the patient under the guidance of Dr. Gupta, Ratliff or Dr. Trueblood. Students should expect to have 6 nights of call during the month, approximately every 5th night.
