The IU Editorial Style Guide

The IU Editorial Style Guide is based in part on widely accepted reference works, such as The Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, and the Associated Press Stylebook and Briefing on Media Law. However, they do not address all of the editorial concerns specific to Indiana University. Therefore, we've developed additional recommendations.

How to use this guide

To use this guide, simply select the letter that corresponds to your question. Wondering when to use a hyphen? Choose "H." Need to know what our style is for dates in running text? Choose "D."
