STATE APPROPRIATION AND STUDENT FEE INCOME OVER TIME
State appropriation and student fee income together provide $912.1
million, or 83 percent of the unrestricted fund current income in 1998-99. Forty-six
percent of that $912.1 million is derived from student fee income. State Appropriation
accounts for 55 percent.
State appropriation amounts for 1982-83 and prior years are not directly comparable with
the amounts for subsequent years. Beginning in 1983-84, the State of Indiana included
funds for the employer contribution to the Public Employees Retirement Fund (PERF) in its
appropriation to the University. Before that year, the state had appropriated this amount
separately.

NOTES: The reported student fees differ above and below the dotted
line. Before 1989-90, student fees excluded dedicated fees for academic facilities; special state appropriations are excluded from state
appropriation. |
