SOURCES OF UNRESTRICTED FUND INCOME


For 1996-97, current unrestricted fund income equals $975.4 million. Forty-four percent of the total ($431.2.9 million) is derived from state appropriations. Student fee income accounts for $370.4 million, or 38 percent. The remainder, $173.7 million, or 18 percent, is earned income, or funds generated from University operations and services. These funds include interest on bank balances, recovery of indirect costs incurred from research grants and contracts, and sales of goods purchased for resale.
