SOURCES OF FUNDS FOR MAJOR PHYSICAL FACILITIES CONSTRUCTED OR ACQUIRED
From 1965-66 through 1996-97, the total cost of major physical facilities
constructed or acquired on all campuses was $1.127.2 million. Bond issues ($509.7 million,
45%) provide the largest single source of funds for which income from student fees is
dedicated to cover the debt service costs.
Facilities financed from gifts ($253.5 million, 24%) constitute the second most important
funding source since 1965-66. Other funding sources include user fees/revenue bonds
($180.3 million, 16%), direct state appropriations ($87.7 million, 8%), and federal grants
($76 million, 7%).
On the Bloomington Campus the following major renovation projects were completed: Foster
Quadrangle-Gresham Dining Room Renovation (gifts and other: $1,550,000); Fine Arts
Building-Classroom & HVAC Renovation (state appropriations: $1,7000,000); Renovation
of the Former Information Services Center for Alumni Association (gifts and other:
$5,100,000); Billy Hayes Track Renovation (gifts and other: $1,800,000); and various
infrastructure projects (state appropriations:$5,000,000). At IUPUI the construction of
the Environmental Management Facility (gifts and other: $1,700,000) and the construction
of the Cancer Care Facility (federal funds: $10,000,000 gifts and other, $5,000,000) were
completed. Ronovation of the University Hospital Radiology Department (gifts and other,
$1,250,000) was also completed.
