THE APPOINTED STAFF OF INDIANA UNIVERSITY

The appointed staff of Indiana University consists of the professional, clerical, technical, and service maintenance and food service workers who are appointed on a yearly basis. The table below shows the number of appointed employees as of October, 1996, on each campus by functional classification. Of the 13,068 appointed employees, 28 percent are clerical, 19 percent are service maintenance/food service, 32 percent are professional, and 21 percent are technical. Thirty-seven percent of the total number of appointed staff are employed on the Bloomington campus, 52 percent on the Indianapolis campus, and eleven percent on the other campuses. The table does not include the number of part-time hourly and student workers.
Some staff members have appointments of fewer than 40 hours per week, therefore, full-time equivalency of all appointments is shown below the total headcount number.
