Age Distribution of Faculty

The age distribution of 3,318 full-time faculty members with professorial ranks is shown below. The average age of professors in 56 at the Bloomington campus, 55 at IUPUI and 56 at the regional campuses. The average age of assistant professors is 48 at Bloomington, 49 at IUPUI and 52 at the other campuses. Assistant professors' average age at Bloomington is 37, at IUPUI it is 40 and at the other campuses, 42. Nine percent of the faculty are age 35 and younger. 18 percent are age 60 or older.
