Sources of Funds for Major Physical Facilities Constructed or Acquired

From 1965-66 through 2003-04, the total cost of major physical facilities constructed or acquired on all campuses was $1.7 billion. Bond issues ($701.5 million, 41%) provide the largest single source of funds for which income from student fees is dedicated to cover the debt service costs.
Facilities financed from gifts and other ($464.8 million, 27%) constitute the second most important funding source since 1965-66. Other funding sources include user fees/revenue bonds ($308.2 million, 18%), direct state appropriations ($138.8 million, 8%), and federal grants ($93.2 million, 5%.)
The Campus View Apartments Renovation Phase I on the Bloomington campus was recently completed ($9,230,000 other). On the IUPUI campus, the Barnhill parking garage ($13,545,985 other); Student Housing ($40,000,000 revenue bonds); VanNuys Medical Science Building - Phase II ($30,000,000 state appropriation); Vermont Street Garage ($1,865,000 other) was completed.
