On behalf of Indiana University (IU) Alumni Relations, the alumni records department at the DeVault Alumni Center is the official keeper of records for both IU alumni - members of the Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA) and nonmembers - and Purdue University Indianapolis (PUI) alumni. The office maitains biographical data about the universities' graduates, some former students, and friends (donors to IU) in the Alumni/Foundation Information System (A/FIS). Few colleges and universities in the nation have more living graduates than IU's 463,000 (through May of 2004). Likewise, with more than 950,000 active records for alumni (graduates and former students of record), friends, parents, corporations, and foundations, the A/FIS database ranks among the largest for the nation's colleges and universities. More than 95% of the records are addressable. Each year, the alumni records department updates hundreds of thousands of records with new address, employment, and university-related information for the benefit of Indiana University and Purdue University Indianapolis.
