CLASSROOM UTILIZATION ANALYSIS

A measure of intensity of teaching facility use is classroom and classroom service area space divided by weekly student contact hours in the fall semester. During the fall semester of 2000-01, that quotient for all campuses was .75 square feet of classroom space per weekly student contact hour.
The lower the ratio, the better the use of classroom space. Differences among the campuses reflect the variety in types of instruction. Campuses with mainly daytime instruction have lower ratios than those with mainly evening classes.  Another element that affects the utilization factor is the number of square feet of classroom space available per FTE student.
