Senior Systems Analyst Programmer- Airvata - PA3IT

Job Summary:
Leads core server-side Java development, packaging, release management, and release maintenance for the UITS Research Technologies. Science Gateway Group and their collaborators on the NSF-funded XSEDE and Open Gateway Computing Environments Science Gateway Platform as a Service (OGCE SciGaP) projects. Develops and extends the Apache Airavata code base for workflow execution, application-wrapping, metadata management, and messaging. Designs and develops unified programming interfaces for Airavata and guides the integration of this with user interfaces and Web services. Develops test suites, packaging, and integration with automated build and test environments. Oversees project software releases and provides support for collaborators. Packages and releases Airavata software through the Apache Software Foundation and supervises Apache requirement compliance. Duties will include working onsite with collaborators to develop a better understanding of new requirements and enhancements to the existing Airavata code base.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline plus at least two years of professional computing experience developing enterprise level software required.

Experience using Apache Airavata and related Apache tools required. Demonstrated experience with open source software development and deployment of operational/production systems using distributed computing and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) principles required. Experience developing and releasing open source software using the Apache model required. Experience with Apache Maven required. Experience developing software on and for Unix/Linux/Mac OSX operating systems required. Experience with computational grids and cloud computing highly desirable.

Mastery of Web/server-side Java code development required. Demonstrated knowledge of and regular use of software engineering best practices required.Must have an enthusiasm for Java-based SOA development combined with the discipline to engineer great software.
