Principal Network Systems Engineer - PA4IT

Works independently to provide highly specialized technical expertise in the architecture, design and evaluation of major new GlobalNOC networking solutions for the GlobalNOC organization. Serve as a principal network engineer for the Global Research NOC responsible for architecting, evaluating, organizing, presenting, and implementing networking systems in an environment comprised of a wide variety of technologies and vendors, deployed on a nation-wide footprint. Prepare extensive project analysis and create proposals and design documentation for the development of systems. Responsible for the overall function of parts of the GlobalNOC networking environment, including responsibility for technical review of network components created by other network engineers.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline. Masters degree desirable. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Five years of experience in the administration and engineering of complex network environments and various architectures, including work in Layers 1 through three. Experience with large scale high level architecture design for complex systems. Experience with a wide variety of operating systems including Cisco IOS and IOS-XR, Juniper JunOS, etc. Supervisory experience is desired.

Knowledge of network systems development and implementation. Skills in operating and oversight of production networking environment. Knowledge of a variety of network equipment technologies ranging from layers 1 through 3. Knowledge of a wide range of vendor.s network equipment, including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, HP, etc. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability in giving technical presentations to large audiences. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge with wide area computer network technology essential as is ability to work effectively in a leadership role.
