Principal Network Systems Engineer - PA4IT

Works independently to provide highly specialized technical expertise in the architecture, design and evaluation of major new GlobalNOC networking solutions for the GlobalNOC organization. Serves as a principal network engineer for the Global Research NOC responsible for architecting, evaluating, organizing, presenting, and implementing networking systems in an environment comprised of a wide variety of technologies and vendors, deployed on a nation-wide footprint. Prepares extensive project analysis and creates proposals and design documentation for the development of systems. Responsible for the overall function of parts of the GlobalNOC networking environment, including responsibility for technical review of network components created by other network engineers.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline and five years of experience in the administration and engineering of complex network environments and various architectures, including work in Layers 1 through 3.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Experience with large scale high level architecture design for complex systems; and experience with a wide variety of operating systems including Cisco IOS and IOS-XR, Juniper JunOS, etc. Knowledge of network systems development and implementation; and skills in operating and oversight of production networking environment. Knowledge of a variety of network equipment technologies ranging from layers 1 through 3; and knowledge of a wide range of vendor.s network equipment, including but not limited to Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, HP, etc.

Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to lead technical presentations to large audiences; and strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge with wide area computer network technology; and ability to work effectively in a leadership role.

Preferred: Master's degree; previous supervisory experience.
