Network Technician, Part-time

Description & Requirements:

Network Technician (part-time) UITS-NW The University Information Technology Services department of Indiana University Northwest (UITS-NW) is seeking applicants for a part-time network technician position to work 15-29 hours per week. Preference will be given to Indiana University Northwest students. The Network Technician.s primary responsibilities will include: o Network document management (topology modifications, graphs, reports, file organization, Footprints) o Moves, adds, and changes of local area network Ethernet services (wired, wireless) o Moves, adds, and changes of unified communication services (Microsoft Lync, Avaya SCC, and phone terminals). o Network repairs and preventative maintenance (diagnostics, tracking, resolutions)

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma. The candidate should have outstanding customer-service ethics, Windows/Apple/Linux operating system knowledge, and basic software skills (Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office suite). Familiarity with computer, network, and telecommunication hardware is helpful (NICs, switches, routers, copper, fiber, information outlets, wireless access points). Fundamental electronics, electrical knowledge, and web programming is a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as problem solving and analytic skills. Compensation for this part-time hourly position will range between $8/hour to $10/hour based on existing technical skills and comparable work experience.
