SALARY: $85,000 to $87,500

As the Executive Director of the IU South Bend UITS Leadership Team, direct the activities of Indiana University South Bend's University Information Technology Support and System Administration Technical Services. In support of campus and University strategic goals and objectives, provide leadership in the development, communication, and implementation of campus and university strategic IT initiatives. Direct the synchronization and delivery of IU South Bend's IT Services, create and develop business processes and direct operations that result in effective, optimal services and support for faculty, staff, and students. Oversee the development, implementation and integration of systems, including applications, data systems, and communications networks. In keeping with Indiana University policies establish and communicate campus policy related to information and infrastructure security. Participate in standards setting and policy formulation with respect to University supported technologies and processes. To implement the vision of the Indiana University IT Strategic Plan, Empowering People, work with and represent the campus CIO when working with University Information Technology Services (UITS) staff on the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses, and for efficiency and effectiveness, actively participate in the university's information technology leveraged support model. Act as a strategic IU South Bend technical and operational representative and actively participate and maintain technical and leveraged operational relationships with all other IU campuses and higher education institutions.


--Assists and advises the campus CIO in strategic planning and other initiatives, and represent the CIO at campus and university meetings, serving as advisor to campus leaders and department heads; set standards and policy formulation with respect to campus supported technologies and processes.

--Provides leadership role in transitioning strategic plans into operational activities, identify needs, establish partnerships, and take part in the planning, development and implementation of information technology initiatives designed to meet diverse campus and university goals and operational needs.

--Provides direction for the operations of programming and systems development, database administration, systems administration, network and telecommunications, and the campus IT support center.

--Provides consultation and oversight to other areas of campus IT, including Instructional Media Services, Web services, IT Training and desktop and classroom computing support.

--Oversees and coordinates data security efforts across the campus.

--Participates in budget construction and review plans and operating budgets to ensure proper alignment with objectives and make adjustments as necessary.

--Represents IU Northwest IT Services at state, local, and national IT professional meetings.

-Masters Degree required.

--Minimum five years of progressive, recent IT management and leadership experience with contemporary information technology, personnel, and budget responsibilities.

--Must have a solid understanding of information technology and information security, IT support, IT systems and interoperability of systems.

--Direct experience in the specific technical areas of systems administration, applications development, database administration, network operations, and data center operations are highly desirable.

--Demonstrated abilities in staff leadership and development, project management, and change management.

--Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for working collaboratively within a diverse University environment.

--Creativity, flexibility and high energy are essential for providing leadership to excellent staff during rapid-paced change, evolution, and innovation.

--Experience with IT support in a university environment is preferred.
