This is administrative and educational service work performing a variety of non-routine tasks related to the development of files, documentation, and schedules of academic classrooms and course work.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, builds, and maintains the schedule of classes each semester and summer session for a school or very large department.
Assesses academic course facilities needs and schedules classes and sections to match needed classroom/facility types appropriate to the size and instructional needs of the courses.
Consults with department chairs, facilities administrators, personnel in the Office of the Registrar regarding matters pertaining to course and classroom scheduling.
Manages all department registration, waitlist, and drop/add activities; monitors course/section enrollments and alters/adds/closes sections as needed; monitors related computer information systems and communicates changes, conflicts, etc. to faculty and department chairpersons.
Resolves specific student enrollment problems during registration periods, such as, computer information system errors and restricted class access.
Develops and compiles schedule of classes information, documentation, and associated files.
May review and approve/deny non-academic requests to schedule classroom facilities under assigned area of responsibility.
May maintain other files and information related to facilities, instructor reviews, and student records.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge of the course/academic enrollments and scheduling process.
Knowledge of computer spreadsheet/database/word processing software.
Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment
Good communications skills.
Good organization skills.
Good bookkeeping skills
Ability to analyze complex information and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to effectively interact with a diverse staff and client base.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years experience in the area of student records or academic administration.
