This is clerical and administrative work performing a variety of routine and non-routine tasks related to the admissions process.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Responds to inquiries from potential students, parents, high school teachers and counselors, and others regarding policies and procedures involved in applying for admission.
Responds to requests for additional information; determines what material best suits needs of prospective student and mails.
Processes incoming applications and supporting documents; codes information sent for data entry; begins process of creating applicant file.
Provides clerical support to department including filing, preparing correspondence, and acting as receptionist.
Maintains data bases and files on applicants and high schools; updating as necessary.
Generates and mails letters of acceptance, letters of rejection and other form letters to applicant.
Enters requests for financial aid packets into computer.
Verifies that applicants have paid application fee; prepares daily deposits.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computers and database/word processing software.
Familiarity with standard office procedures and equipment.
Good communications skills.
Good organizational skills.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Six months office experience.
