Job Title and Grade: Library Technical Services Associate II / SSOF

Under general supervision manages library technical service processes and/or oversee library technical service duties requiring specialized non-Western European language skills.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Places, monitors, and ensures shipment of non-Western European monographs.
Manages procurement of Western and non-Western European language materials such as approval plans, serials, periodicals, electronic databases, e-books, and other electronic resources.
Manages major annual subscription renewal and cancellation projects.
Ensures electronic resources are activated and available to users online, to include monitoring the help desk patrons and staff use to report access problems.
Manages receipt of serials and periodicals.
Trains and works with Libraries collection managers using the vendors’ approval databases.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of library procedures and resources
Ability to process complex, detailed work with accuracy; strong organizational skills
Experience in searching and editing online library databases (preferably SIRSI)
Knowledge of standard office systems experience including e-mail, Internet applications, database searching, and working knowledge of computer and word processing/database/spreadsheet software
Good interpersonal skills
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to pay attention-to-detail and follow established guidelines
Good oral and written communications skills
Knowledge of on-line searching procedures
Education: Two years of college level coursework
Experience: One year library experience. Experience supervising employees
Language: Some positions may require specific foreign language skills, such as knowledge of basic language components, vocabulary, syntax, recognizing parts of speech and the ability to read and comprehend main points of text.
