This is library service work performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks related to the management of library musical collections and records.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares choral and instrumental ensemble music collections for circulation; assembles collections to accommodate patrons' needs.
Consults with patrons to assemble music library collection materials specific to performance needs.
Reformats pages and page turns to accommodate the needs of performers.
Supervises circulation activities; receives, maintains, and post ensemble rosters; informs Ensembles Office of assignments missing from rosters.
Monitors acquisitions of materials; recommends replacement and purchases of library materials to meet patron needs; verifies receipts; ensures prompt return of rental materials; notifies Ensembles Office and conductors of problems affecting rehearsals and performances.
Answers reference questions related to performance history, orchestration, repertory, origin, and refers patrons to other library personnel when appropriate.
Recruits, hires, schedules, supervises, evaluates and trains temporary employees for Music Library services area.
Maintains a log of all School of Music performances and readings to ensure non-redundancy for future repertory decisions.
Performs other duties related to circulation and patron activites.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer and word processing/database software.
Knowledge of library procedures.
Knowledge of on-line searching procedures.
Problem solving skills.
Excellent communications skills.
Education: Two years of college level course work
Experience: Two years of library service.
