Job Title and Grade: Demonstration Technician / SSOF

This is technical work responsible for the coordination of the logistics for demonstrations in science classes.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts demonstrations involving scientific principles for physics and astronomy classes; prepares all equipment and supplies; sets-up and removes equipment.
Designs and constructs new demonstrations; consults with faculty and associate instructors regarding demonstrations; tests new demonstrations.
Monitors equipment condition; performs maintenance and simple repair; organizes and maintains demonstration area.
Assists undergraduate students; serves as resource on technical aspects of demonstrations.
Supervises student employees; serves as resource on technical questions.
Organizes and maintains on-line data-base; updates as necessary.
Coordinates Open House and Exploratorium.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer and database software.
Good communication and training skills.
Experience with machine tools and electronics.
Good organization and time management skills.
Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
Education: Two years of college with fifteen hours of course work in physics, astronomy, or a related field.
Experience: One year scientific lab experience.
