This is complex technical and administrative work related to providing and maintaining telecommunication services.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors, facilitates, and performs telecommunications installation and maintenance activities.
Troubleshoot telecommunication issues with customers and facilitate proper joining, repair, and rearrangement of cable connections and cross-connections.
Verify and monitor network connections/IP addressing across several operating system platforms.
Coordinates delivery of a variety of telecommunications services, including wireless technology, long distance, campus voice network, dial tone, and optional services.
Audits vendor invoicing related to telecommunication services; maintains billing records and tracks orders to ensure timely product/service delivery; prepares a variety of reports for cost analysis and provides consultation to departments regarding telecommunication services
Designs, recommends and implements plans/procedures for wireless products and cellular service for departments; consults with vendors and external service providers to determine and evaluate cost, feasibility, and resource requirements.
Performs a variety of financial activities, including data collection and analysis, cost analysis for rate setting, cost containment, budget preparation, and account management.
Communicates with university administration, department coordinators, faculty, staff, and students to coordinate service delivery, provide information, and resolve problems.
Adjust cable diagrams and schema as needed; provide monitoring, tracking, resolution, and customer service for all voice supported areas; ensure proper documentation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of telecommunication systems.
Knowledge of database, spreadsheet and word processing packages.
Problem solving skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
Education: Associates degree in telecommunications, networking, or a closely related field. Directly related work experience may be substituted at a ratio of two years of progressively more responsible experience for each year of education
Experience: One year of experience in troubleshooting telecommunications systems and/or networking related experience.
