This is administrative and clerical work performing a variety of non-routine tasks related to the support of the department.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, monitors, and oversees maintenance of moderately complex data bases (i.e: large multi-table/multi-variate data sets; writes complex query reports); ensures data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Designs and writes informational material and newsletters for department education and use; edits for grammar/spelling and content.
Responds to inquiries from outside the department; answers questions regarding department's policies and procedures or refers to appropriate office.
Compiles, collates, and analyzes data from source documents; develops and writes final preparation of reports.
Provides secretarial and clerical support; maintains staff schedules amending as necessary; assists with making arrangements for visitors; oversees the preparation of travel arrangements for staff.
Serves as informational resource to other support staff on questions involving policies and procedures; assists other staff in problem situations.
Oversees the preparation of any mailings; ensures that mailings are complete, all inserts included, and any forms correctly filed out.
Orders any necessary office supplies.
May assist in supervision and work assignment of support staff or in payroll, budgetary, and financial document processing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Knowledge of computers and database/word processing/spreadsheet software.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Good organizational skills.
Good communications skills.
Ability to work on multiple tasks.
Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years office experience.
