This is clerical work performing a variety of routine and non-routine tasks in operating a personal computer or word processor to format and produce documents.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Types and formats a variety of documents including: manuscripts, handouts, brochures, correspondence, certificates, and internet pages.
Creates charts, graphs, and other graphic elements and illustrations for use in printed material.
Edits printed material for content and grammar/spelling; ensures material meets University standards.
Contacts writer to discuss suggested changes in printed material.
Trains other employees in word processing and desktop publishing software.
Maintains departmental files and databases; updates has necessary.
Monitors inventory of supplies; reorders as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer/database/desktop publishing software.
Excellent keyboard skills (60 wpm)
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work under deadline pressure.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year experience using word processing software.
