This is technical work in the installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of electronic devices and equipment.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in the construction or modification of electronic equipment and devices. Calibrates, repairs, cleans and lubricates electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and devices.
Fabricates electronic instrumentation from schematic wiring and component level diagrams.
Sets up electronic equipment for laboratory experiments and checks for proper operation. Inspects, troubleshoots and performs preventive maintenance on various electronic monitors and equipment.
Documents and tags electronic equipment; maintains inventory control; makes recommendations regarding possible purchases; prepares monthly billing.
Cleans and maintains work area.
May assist in supervising work study students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of applied electronics.
Knowledge of the construction, use and operation of complex electronic equipment and devices.
Knowledge of computers and word processing/spreadsheet software.
Knowledge of the calibration, repair, maintenance and operation of less complex electronic equipment and devices.
Ability to read and understand electronic and electrical specifications, diagrams and manuals.
Ability to use standard electronic and electrical test equipment and bench tools.
Ability to analyze wiring diagrams.
Education: Completion of an accredited post-high school program in electronics or electrical engineering.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience: One year electronic repair experience.
