Job Title and Grade: Broadcast Technician Senior / SSOH

This is technical work performing a variety of moderately difficult technical and administrative tasks related to the production of video broadcasts.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Assembles and sets up cameras, audio equipment, and all other equipment needed for broadcast production both in studio and location; monitors and operates equipment during production; takes corrective action if problems develop.
Repairs broadcast equipment; troubleshoots problems using schematic; locates and procures any needed parts; installs part and tests repaired equipment; performs routine and corrective maintenance on equipment.
Monitors technical advances in field; researches and reports on possible new equipment purchases; design, installs, and integrates new equipment; documents new equipment.
Operates and maintains the Television Master Control; routes broadcasts to campuses, up-link sites, and other destinations.
Assists in training of temporary worker, may assist in scheduling and oversight of temporary workers; serves as technical resource to temporary and other workers.
Operates, monitors, and adjusts transmitters in compliance with FCC regulations; takes corrective action if problems develop.
Operate and monitors satellite receivers; performs technical evaluations of signals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer and applicable software.
FCC Operators License.
Problem solving skills.
Good organization and time management skills.
Electronic and mechanical maintenance skills.
Ability to exercise independent judgement.
Education: Associates degree in telecommunications or closely related field.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience: Two years broadcast production experience.
Registration: FCC Restricted Operators Permit
