This is technical work performing a variety of non-routine technical tasks related to the production of video broadcasts.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Assembles and sets up audio equipment, cameras, recorders, and other equipment needed for broadcast production both in studio and on location; monitors and operates equipment during production; takes corrective action if problems develop.
Performs routine and corrective maintenance on broadcast equipment; designs, installs, and integrates new equipment.
Operates and maintains the Television Master Control; routes broadcast signals to campuses, uplink sites, and other destinations.
Assists in training of temporary workers; acts as resource on technical matters and on questions regarding policies and procedures.
Operates, monitors, and adjusts transmitters in compliance with FCC regulations.
Operates and monitors satellite receivers; performs technical evaluations of signals.
Prepares video tape recording from a variety of sources.
Assists in instruction process during broadcast production classes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of computer and appropriate software.
FCC Radio-telephone Operators License.
Good communications skills.
Problem solving skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work under stressful conditions.
Ability to work well with a wide range of people.
Education: Associates degree in telecommunications or closely related field.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Experience: One year television broadcast experience.
Registration: FCC Restricted Operators Permit
