This is accounting/bookkeeping work performing a variety of administrative tasks related to the preparation of accounting documents and reports.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Performs various on-line financial transactions according to University policies and procedures.
Processes financial documents into the University's central computing on-line information systems (FIS, BARS, TOPS, FAMS, etc.); verifies that information is correct; and resolves all discrepancies.
Maintains records of financial transactions; compiles and collates data on financial transactions; prepares reports.
Consults with students and staff regarding financial transactions and procedures; responds to any inquiries regarding policies and procedures; resolves any financial errors and discrepancies; and makes any needed adjustments.
Reconciles statement of accounts involving financial transactions; investigates and resolves any discrepancies in financial documents.
Prepares payment/reimbursement requests, audits receipts/invoices, calculates costs, and verifies eligibility for payment.
Investigates and resolves any phone or mail inquiries regarding procedures or account status.
Assigns and schedules work of support staff; trains, instructs and monitors work product to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures.
Knowledge of computers and spreadsheet/word processing software.
Familiarity with standard office procedures and equipment.
Good organization and communication skills.
Ability to expeditiously and accurately perform math calculations.
Ability to analyze financial records.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Two years accounting/bookkeeping experience.
