This is accounting/bookkeeping work performing a variety of complex administrative and clerical tasks related to the preparation and audit of the University's central accounting data systems, documents, and reports.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as subject matter expert and resource to campuses and departments regarding transactions and accounting procedures related to a central systems transaction processing area.
Audits various on-line financial transactions to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
Maintains records of financial transactions; compiles and collates data on financial transactions; prepares reports.
Reconciles statement of accounts involving complex financial transactions; investigates and resolves any discrepancies in financial documents.
Processes financial documents into the University's central computing on-line information systems (FIS, BARS, TOPS, FAMS, etc.); verifies that information is correct; and resolves all discrepancies.
Prepares payment/reimbursement requests and cash advances, audits receipts/invoices, calculates costs, and verifies eligibility for payment.
Monitors cash receipts and prepares periodic reports.
Assists in the processing of transactions involving other countries including: calculation of foreign exchange rates preparing wire transfers, and creating foreign bank drafts.
Investigates and resolves any phone or mail inquiries regarding procedures or account status.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures.
Knowledge of computers and spreadsheet/word processing software.
Knowledge of the central system financial data files with expertise in transaction processing.
Familiarity with standard office procedures and equipment.
Good organization skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to expeditiously and accurately perform math calculations.
Ability to analyze financial records.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years experience in a financial transaction processing environment.
