This is administrative work performing a variety of non-routine tasks related to the daily operations of medical services clinic.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates the delivery of services by clinic personnel, schedules visits by patients; coordinates scheduling of any needed diagnostic or therapy procedures.
Retrieves and reviews any necessary patient records; takes vital signs if necessary; and prepares rooms for doctor-patient consultation.
Informs patient of any test results; reviews follow-up health plan; schedules any return visits; responds to patient inquiries or refers to appropriate office or individual.
Oversees the maintenance of all patient files, billing/insurance records, and other files and records related to the operation of the clinic.
Serves as resource person on questions regarding policies and procedures; conducts orientation and educational sessions for support staff..
Supervises the activities of clerical personnel assigned to support the central office functions of the clinic.
Manages and coordinates flow activities; sets priorities, and evaluate seriousness of in-coming patient's condition to determine patient priority.
Serves as liaison for other departments.
Assists in emergency situations.
Answers telephone lines for physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of medical terms.
Knowledge of computer and word processing/database/spreadsheet software.
Familiarity with standard office equipment and procedures.
Ability to set priorities and good time management skills.
Excellent communications skills.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year medical office experience.
