This is clerical and bookkeeping/accounting work performing a variety of non-routine administrative and clerical tasks related to the processing of payroll.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Audits, coordinates and processes monthly, biweekly, and temporary payroll; reviews, audits, and verifies accuracy of payroll information.
Verifies accuracy of all adjustments to payroll including payroll supplements and garnishments; processes adjustments into computer system.
Analyzes and verifies accuracy of other material for data entry including health insurance, PSIs and accounts payable.
Investigates and resolves any discrepancies related to all appointments, benefits, and compensation; enters information into computer system.
Monitors financial accounts; ensures that timely payments are made to designated payees.
Responds to any inquiries regarding personnel policies, procedures, or payroll status; serves as resource person and interprets payroll and personnel policies.
Serves as department liaison to other university divisions and outside parties.
Assists in any personnel decisions of temporary workers in this department.
May supervise or coordinate the work of others in the department performing payroll/personnel duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and proficiency in computer and word processing/spreadsheets software.
Familiarity with standard office procedures and equipment.
Good communication skills.
Good organization skills.
Basic bookkeeping/accounting skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Two years experience with payroll or human resource enterprise systems.
