Job Purpose

This is administrative and financial support work providing oversight for a variety of moderately complex tasks relating to the processing of financial information.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees the day to day transaction work of multiple staff in one or more business office financial functional areas; accounting, purchasing, payroll, etc.

Prioritizes, assigns and monitors work for accuracy and completeness; may evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions.  Develops and provides training for the various financial functional areas.

Serves as resource and subject matter expert on issues concerning business office processes, policy and procedures; may recommend and develop internal processes to assure compliance with university, state, and federal requirements.

Processes financial documents; verifies and approves and audits various on-line transactions initiated by University system users. Investigates and resolves discrepancies.

Compiles and analyzes financial data; produces a variety of financial reports.

Responds to inquiries and serves as department liaison to internal and external entities to coordinate activities and exchange information.

Knowledge of computer and data processing/spreadsheet software.

Knowledge of business office functions and processes.

Minimum Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: Three years business office experience.  

Note:  Three years experience in a specific functional area (accounting, payroll, purchasing, etc.) can be substituted for the general business office experience based on the focus of an individual position.
