JOB PURPOSE

This accounting/bookkeeping work performing a variety of routine administrative and clerical tasks related to the processing of financial records.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Processes documents into University's central computing on-line information systems (FIS, BARS, TOPS, FAMS, etc.); codes and enters data into system; verifies that information is correct.

Provides information to and staff regarding financial transactions and procedures; responds to any inquiries.

Reconciles accounts; corrects errors and discrepancies; makes any needed adjustments.

Processes payments/reimbursements; may balance cash drawers and receipts; batches all monies going through office after verifying accuracy.

May perform various office support tasks; answers phone and refers caller to appropriate individual; coordinates logistical arrangements for events; monitors and maintains inventory of office supplies and materials; maintains and updates necessary files and databases.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures.

Knowledge of computer and spreadsheet/database software.

Familiarity with standard office procedures and equipment.

Good communications skills.

Good organization skills.

Ability to expeditiously and accurately perform math calculations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: One year accounting/bookkeeping experience.
