BIOGRAPHY
Hoagland Howard Carmichael is known for outstanding achievement as an artist; his songs have become a part of the folk music of our land and are sung and played on every stage and screen. Through the mediums of screen, radio and television he brought to us a manner of composition and performance wholly his own, yet understood and enjoyed by all.

Carmichael's unwavering loyalty to Indiana University and to his home community was evident throughout his successful career. While scaling the heights of stardom and public acclaim, his love for his university and boyhood home was ever alive and evident to all.
