BIOGRAPHY
A civic leader, Harriet J. Simmons-Inskeep was the first woman appointed by a governor to the IU Board of Trustees in 1962. She was a member of the IPFW advisory board and IU board of trustees. She received the 1978 Ralph E. Broyles Medal, and on May 8, 1996 was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by Indiana University.
