Tanya Y. Price is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Miami University and received her M.A. and Ph.D. in 1993 from Indiana University at Bloomington.

Price currently teaches University Studies, African American Experience, Cultures in the African Diaspora, Anthropology and Sociology courses at North Carolina A&T University.
