Trustee Reilly has served on the board for five years as a gubernatorial appointee. He holds a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and is the former president and chairman of the board of Reilly Industries (retired) and the former president and CEO of the American Chemistry Council (retired). He is active on a number of corporate boards, including OneAmerica Corp., Herff-Jones Inc. and REI Real Estate Services Inc., and retired as a director of Methodist Medical Group (formerly Methodist Hospital), among others.
He has played an active role in higher education, serving as chair of the Indiana Efficiency Commission's Subcommittee on Higher Education, and as a member of the Board of Trustees at Butler University, where he also chaired the institution's Commission on the Future of the University and the Capital Campaign. His civic and community involvements have includes the Indianapolis Children's Museum and the Indianapolis Zoological Society.
He received a Sagamore of the Wabash in 1987 and the Chemical Industry Medal, Society of Chemical Industry in 2004.
