About the Student Trustee
IU has had a student trustee for over thirty years. In 1975 the Indiana General Assembly amended the statutes (IC 21-20-3-13), enabling the governor to appoint a full-time student to the board. The first student trustee, Leslie C. Shively, was sworn in on Jan. 1, 1976.
The Current Student Trustee
Cora J. Griffin
Trustee Griffin, from Cass County, graduated from Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis in May 2011, and is pursuing a Master's degree in Nonprofit Management through the School of Environmental and Public Affairs at IUPUI. Ms. Griffin was appointed to the board in 2011; her term runs from July 2011 through June 2013.
