Richard S. Rubin

Professor Rubin's teaching and research interests center on labor-management relations in the public
sector with a particular focus on conflict resolution and labor-management cooperation. His current
research interest is in labor-management cooperation strategies for public employees and their
governmental employers. Much of his writing is based on applied research and has been published in
the
Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Public Administration Review, Public Productivity &
Management Review, Employee Relations Law Journal, Public Administration Quarterly, and Journal of
Collective Negotiations in the Public Sector.
In addition to teaching and research, Professor Rubin serves regularly as a mediator, fact finder,
and arbitrator in collective bargaining disputes between public employee unions and government,
specializing in state and local disputes. He also serves as the neutral chair of several joint
labor-management committees.
