How to Apply


Application Process

COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION

The application consists of four components:

  • the general information requested on the application;
  • an essay as described on the application;
  • your resume in plain text format;
  • the name, address, and phone number of three faculty references (no letters of recommendations are needed).

Fall Semester 2009

A complete set of all the materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2009.

Interview and Selection Process
Each applicant will schedule an interview with the Selection Committee at the time the application material is submitted. Interviews will begin Monday, February 16, 2009 and continue through Friday, February 20, 2009. The interview, along with the online application materials, will be evaluated in making the final selection. The committee will look for evidence of past experience (in and/or outside of the classroom), work skills, personal and program goals as well as positive academic performance.

Notification and Acceptance
The candidates selected for the Washington Leadership Program will be notified shortly after interviews are completed and student will be required to accept their seat in the progam by a set deadline. A wait list will be established in case any of the original candidates are unable to participate.

Informational Meeting for the Selected Students
An orientation program will be held for participating students on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Parents or significant others are invited to attend the orientation. Information will be given about fees, housing arrangements, internship sites, transportation facilities, conduct, courses, and previous student experiences. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
