Volunteer Opportunities


Here are more ways to support and stay connected to both IU and SPEA:
  • Become a member of the Indiana University Alumni Association (IUAA). Becoming a member benefits both you and SPEA. Click here to renew or sign up.

  • Recruit five new dues-paying members to the IUAA. Member dues support SPEA publications, scholarships, and alumni programming.

  • Encourage your fellow SPEA alumni to create a profile on www.SPEACareers.com and volunteer as a mentor or to help with recruiting new SPEA students
  • Identify students who may be interested in SPEA and encourage them to visit campus.

  • Assist with student recruitment efforts for IU in your area by signing up on www.SPEACareers.com to attend recruiting events in  your area or to call prospective students with interests similar to yours.

  • Attend a SPEA alumni event in your area. Click here to view the IUAA calendar of events.

  • Attend an alumni chapter meeting in your area. Click here to find the chapter closest to you.

  • Write or e-mail to the SPEA alumni magazine about the lasting impact a certain professor has had on your life.

  • Clip news articles and obituaries from local newspapers about SPEA alumni and forward to Alumni Relations by emailing Carla Cowden.

  • Become an annual donor to SPEA by clicking here.

  • Identify major gift prospects for SPEA ($10,000+) and contact SPEA’s Development Director Randy Rogers by calling 812-855-6802 or via e-mail at Randy Rogers.

  • Identify prospects for naming opportunities for scholarships, fellowships, rooms, etc. and send them to SPEA’s Development Director Randy Rogers by calling 812-855-6802 or via e-mail at Randy Rogers.

  • Purchase an IU license plate (for residents of Indiana, Tennessee, and New York). Revenues from IU license plate sales provide scholarship opportunities for children of IU alumni.

  • Sign up for an @alumni.iu.edu email address to keep forever. Click here for instructions on how to sign up.

  • Send Carla Cowden your new email address in order to receive SPEA’s pending e-newsletter

  • Subscribe to the IUAA electronic newsletter and suggest that your friends do the same

  • Find a classmate in the online directory and e-mail him/her the SPEA Web address.

  • Update your alumni record online at SPEAcareers.com.

  • Post an online class note.

  • Attend a SPEA-sponsored event.

  • Plan a family outing to campus.

  • Buy and wear IU merchandise.

  • Become a mentor of a current SPEA student by signing up on www.SPEACareers.com
