Be here!
SPEA’s programs in public affairs and environmental science are
among the best in the country and, as such, our admission standards
are rigorous. They’re also flexible. We welcome students from
diverse academic, professional, and personal backgrounds. Professional
experience isn’t necessary—SPEA’s academic program,
bolstered by hands-on internships and service, will prepare you to make
an immediate impact in your career. More important than professional
experience is passion, energy, and dedication.
Apply. Our admission committee is comprised
of faculty members who are genuinely interested in you, not just your
test scores. Your application, undergraduate transcripts and GRE scores
are just the beginning. We want to know you, the whole person. Your
letters of recommendation are important too, and should address your
academic potential but also your other strengths and involvements. Include
your résumé to highlight your work experience and other
achievements. Use your personal statement to demonstrate your writing
and organizational skills—but also tell us your story. Why do
you want to study at SPEA? How do you intend to use our degree? Where
do you want to go from here?
Relax. Once you initiate the application process,
we’ll take care of the rest. You will receive timely communication
every step of the way regarding the status of your application. Once
your application file is complete, we guarantee a quick turnaround on
a decision. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the
SPEA student community.
