This statement is what sets us apart from many others. At SPEA, we address the issues of the day with both outstanding research and practical applications in a way that prepares you for the world of tomorrow. And we do what we do very well—we consistently rank in the top tier of schools of public affairs in the national rankings.

At SPEA, our founding mandate was “to deal effectively and dispassionately with the myriad needs and problems of modern society.” More than 30 years later, that mandate has not changed. Today we address urgent issues such as health care, energy, environment, and the loss of manufacturing employment in Indiana and the nation.

Here in our halls you will find professors who are accessible and committed, professors who conduct relevant research and engage in communities from local to global. And you will find classmates who are passionate and fearless about fixing the world’s problems. It’s a great environment to be in, no matter what you choose to study.
