Graduate ProgramsMaster of Arts DegreeThe Masters degree provides a broad background in the study of religious traditions and theoretical orientations in the discipline. Coursework culminates in a final project, which may be a thesis, a translation of a religious text, or an examination. Many of our M.A. students continue their work at the doctoral level, either here or at other flagship institutions. Others move into different professions (e.g., law, social work, secondary education) or different academic disciplines. We are proud of the achievements of our graduate alumni/ae. Recipients of our M.A. have gone on to doctoral study here at Indiana as well as at numerous other prestigious universities; others have pursued careers in law, secondary education, social work, and other fields in which familiarity with religious traditions and modes of reasoning are helpful.
