IU Bookshelf Overview

IU Bookshelf is a free application for viewing digital magazines and publications on tablet devices such as the Apple iPad. These publications are created with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite (DPS), and Indiana University is proud to be the first higher education institution to partner with Adobe to make its magazines and other DPS publications available to the general public. Download IU Bookshelf from the Apple iTunes store.

Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite enables graphic designers to leverage their skill sets with Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 to create multimedia-rich, interactive publications.

If you are considering submitting your own publication to IU Bookshelf, it should:

  • target the general public, or at minimum, a university-wide audience (faculty, staff, and student body).
  • utilize DPS interactive features to enhance the viewer's experience (e.g., video, audio, image galleries, panoramic views, 3D object views, web views).

Publications should not:

  • appeal only to a narrow audience such as a class of students or department.
  • re-purpose a print publication without interactivity.

If you feel your publication is a good fit, we'll be glad to consider your request. Please email
