IULFC Research Committee: Annual Report 2002

In 2002, the IULFC Research Committee met on March 1 via videoconferencing to discuss the committee's activities for the year. The committee looked for ways to fulfill the committee's charge "to develop ways to raise the consciousness of the University community about librarians about librarians doing research. In addition, the committee is required to monitor the research needs of the IU Library Faculty, develop a means of addressing these needs, encourage research by the IU Library Faculty and to raise their research consciousness."

The committee decided to focus on promoting the Committee's Web Page specifically the Guide to Funding Sources and the Current Research Interests Page. Scott Opasik agreed to act as the Webmaster for the Committee's Web Page and revise its content as needed.

The committee also discussed ways to participate in the annual Librarian's Day meeting which was held at the IUPUI on May 17th. The Committee sponsored a poster session advertising the updated Research Committee Web Page as well as a roundtable panel program entitled Virtual Research featuring Committee Chair Carol Rusinek as one of the speakers. Both the poster session and the panel presentation received positive reviews.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Rusinek
